Capcom registers trademark for 'Fighters of Capcom' - could a new vs. title be in the works?

SNK, Marvel and Tatsunoko are among the various franchises that the Capcom cast of characters have engaged in battle with in the past. Since Capcom Fighting Jam's release in 2004, we haven't really seen a full fledged vs. gaming starring only fighters from the Capcom company.

It is being reported that Capcom recently registered a trademark for a "Fighters of Capcom". While there is currently no information on what this new trademark is for exactly, there is a chance that based on the title, it could be a new Capcom mash up game.

The last time we saw Capcom register a trademark was for Darkstalkers back in February of this year. Then last month Darkstalkers 2 and 3 were officially announced by Capcom as an Xbox Live Arcade and Playstation Network HD port bundle entitled Darkstalkers Resurrection.

Also, last week Haunts posted some information on the grand finals of the Street Fighter 25th anniversary tournament series and mentioned that there may be a surprise for fans to check out at the event. Could there be some connection between the two?

If Capcom keeps with the same pattern, there is a chance we could see something new from them sometime next year. What do you guys think this trademark might be for? Leave your thoughts below.

La mente mi dice che dopo le vendite deludenti di UMvC3 e SFxT non vedremo un altro picchiaduro VS Capcom per un bel pezzo e che molto probabilmente si tratterà di un'ennesima collection di vari picchiaduro Capcom (li sparo: Red Earth, Cyberbots e Star Gladiators).

Però sperare non costa niente: un bel picchiaduro SOLO CAPCOM senza PG esterni a occupare slots. :sbav:

Anche se potrebbe trattarsi anche di qualcosa di totalmente diverso da un gioco, come ad esempio un documentario o un torneo sponsorizzato... :r_r:

Capcom is teasing two new product announcements at this upcoming PAX East next month on March 22-24.

While we all know Capcom has a ton of different IP's and could be potentially revealing stuff that is not fighting game related, it was teased by Yoshinori Ono that we can "maybe" expect something from the event.

There is a lot of speculation in the air right now as to what it could be, many fighting game fans are thinking it could possibly be an update to the Street Fighter 4 series or even one for Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Let us know what you think it could possibly be in the comment section below.

Secondo me uno next e uno actual.
Il primo potrebbe essere quella specie di Dragon's Dogma che si è visto con la PS4, Deep Down, di cui si è visto poco o nulla (non mi stupirebbe se lo rinominassero proprio Dragon's Dogma 2, essendo stato l'unico grande successo Capcom del 2012, mi sembra strano che buttano una potenziale saga per un altro gioco fantasy).
Oppure sarà un'altra cosa.

Assuring PC users that he's on board with pushing Capcom's products out to their platform specifically, Christian Svensson said that while he can't make promises — if he had his way — PC users won't be left out in the future of fighting games. This is potentially good news for fans of this platform, as Svensson has a good amount of clout within the company.

More surveys will also be forthcoming, like the one they did in December which over 60,000 people responded to. Svensson also talks about why there wasn't an arcade release for Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and if Street Fighter 3 2nd Impact is likely to see a re-release.

Ross: Why can't the PC Get more of the fighting games?

Svensson: No promises, but if I have my way, PC users will not be left out in the future of fighting games.

Beyond that, I can't provide any details but PC continues to be in our discussions across a variety of genres.

Chris: These digital surveys are a great idea to stay connected to the fans. Another great idea would be to do a survey once every year so that you can know what people want.

Svensson: We will definitely be doing more surveys. I'm very pleased with the feedback and level of information we're getting. Mind you, we have to interpret them through the lens of this being data collected from very core focused, online participating, Capcom knowledgeable fans and not the broader market however there are some really good uses for that subset of data.

Yassar: Just out of curiosity, was an arcade machine considered for Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3?

Svensson: The arcade business really only makes sense in Japan and some parts of Asia, and Marvel as a brand (and MvC as a game series) has not historically been as popular there as it has been in the West.
Street Fighter is a much larger opportunity in those markets.

Jonny: I would like Street Fighter III Second Impact to get released.

Svensson: As a stand alone project, it wouldn't make sense and as such, it is unlikely for that to happen.

Keeping up with his responses to questions and comments on Twitter, Yoshinori Ono has stated that he has been working on something new and will be revealing it very soon.

KOAlliance: You have been very quiet for a while???? Are you busy working?

Ono: I had a lot of task for something new ;P I'll announce it in soon

Over the past few months we have seen various hints from Ono and Capcom at what could be a big reveal at this year's PAX East.

We have already received word that Capcom will be unveiling two new products at PAX on March 22 - 24. Ono himself has also previously hinted at revealing something at the event.

Additionally, in January Ono had asked Twitter users to let him know which game he should work on next. A few days later he Tweeted a thank you message to those who responded and posted an image showing off Street Fighter figures that may have hinted at a new game in the Alpha series.

Lastly, Error1 created an excellent PC mod for Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition v2012 that added Rolento to the roster. Ono responded to this mod with praise and mentioned that he aims show it to Capcom's research and development team.

The possible PAX reveals could very well not be fighting game related, as Ono is also working on Capcom titles Remember Me and Deep Down. Still, there is a chance we may see something new for the fighting game community.
